The shop carries many things for the garden, including rustic bark bird feeders and birdhouses. There is a wide variety of humming bird feeders from the old standard Perky Pet to elegant glass with copper enameling. One can also find college or professional sports team birdhouses or feeders.

You'll find a wide variety of dishes, plates, and other pottery at the shop.

Hearthside Handmades is also the home of THESE BLOOMING DISHES. This pottery includes dishes, plates, hanging pockets, mirrors and jewelry and is made by Keith and Darlene Fletcher. The pottery is made by pressing wild flowers into clay, firing it, underglazing, glazing and firing again. It comes out looking like a spring meadow that will brighten any room.

The shop also carries other local pottery from the Appalachian area.

Anyone looking for a handmade basket will have not problem finding one from Patti Simmons Creations. From large to small, her walnut dyed, muted color baskets would be perfect for that empty spot.

Also featured are homemade jams, jellies and pickles, handmade herbal soaps, scented candles, greeting cards, hand-carved wooden spoons, wooden boxes and chimes of all sizes. Coke collectors will find a wide variety of coke trays to choose from. We are proud to showcase hand-painted gemstone pendants, with birds and flowers, by Bonnie Childers.

Skyline Village Inn Gift Store

Located adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 331, the historic Skyline Inn was built by John M Greer in the side of the mountain at the entrance to a cavern, where a moonshine still was located. Construction began in 1942 and was completed in 1948 financed by the moonshine money. Mr. Greer was a master carpenter and stonemason.

His handiwork is present in the wood paneling, marble floors and wood inlay tables throughout the building. Extensive remodeling has respected Mr. Greer’s vision for this unique property. The hotel has one of the most beautiful views in the North Carolina mountains.

Midway between Boone and Asheville, this is an ideal spot from which to visit and roam the mountains. Close to hiking, gem mining, and a wonderful starting point for many motorcycle riding loops, including the infamous DIAMONDBACK!
